I'm contemplating about either keeping it or selling but don't want the hassle factor... I'll have a few Time ATAC pedals for sale from Ti spindle to the Carbon one to the just regular thermoplastic body ones they are all well used and still work fine as the bearings roll smooth but one rattles but would be good for a junker or spare bike also a pair of Look KEO carbon "blade" roadie pedals they work fine but the carbon blade on one pedal is cracked it still works fine but it's got a crack in the carbon i guess it can be replaced. I've got a easton xc90 carbon "wide" handlebar 9 degree backsweep 31.8mm 685mm but it's been cut down but not by much it's still wide...two used but in good condition s works fast track 29x2.0 tires with stans latex coating inside no tears or holes also a couple non-bike items an invicta 6250 reserve watch like the one in the first photo it's been worn TWICE and comes with extra links and box and manuals the other is a invicta 6087 pro-diver as shown in second photo I bought this secondhand and have never worn it it's not new but it looks like new. I got these watches a while back and they have just sat in a drawer they are pretty massive. If anything piques your interest let me know i'm not in a rush to sell anything but I hate having stuff i'm not using laying around either but i'm too lazy to write a eBay listing I
I had the road wheel blowout a few months back i've got a set of Easton EC90 XC 29er wheels that i may or may not sell but all our other wheels are being used.
KIA, cool just thought I would ask since you are often putting things up. I guess I spaced on your road wheel sale - or wasn't thinking about it at the time.
yeah they are the blingy carbon wheels since Mrs.KIA got her epic the moots rsl has collected dust i'm thinking of turning her moots into a 1x11 and they make a 11 speed freehub body that will retrofit those easton wheels so thats the route i'm thinking of going rather than buying a new set of wheels. these carbon hoops are what we have currently on her SS and were on my SS bike they are almost clones of the specialized roval carbon wheels once you ride a carbon mtb wheelset you'll never go back to flimsy aluminum wheels http://www.light-bicycle.com/cross-coun ... tible.html
Nick, if you want a set of those, I may have a deal for you. I have a set laced up to Hope Pro2 hubs with CXray bladed spokes I would be willing to sell - the set doesn't work well on cannondale lefty equipped bikes. I had these wheels built up at the end of last year and have only used the back one for about 100miles (if that) while my Reynolds was being rebuilt. Front is brand new and never put on a bike. Rims are black, spokes are black, nippples black, and hubs are red. Great set of wheels, I just don't use them.
Interesting . . . . why did you go with the Reynolds over these? I ask becasue I've not paid attention to carbon wheels, so I don't know a thing about potential differences. In any case, will the price range for this wheelset will be comparable to an aluminum wheelset?
I had piam over at west end build up a nice set with american classic hubs for less than $700 that is everything rims, hubs, spokes, nipples, and hand built. the rims are gonna be approx $350 for a set and will take approx six weeks to get here your expense will be what hub you want we had a set with the american classics and one with the stans ZTR hubs taken off a old set of ZTR race wheels. going from a flexy set of ZTR race hoops to Roval carbon was eye opening even for me for an aggressive rider like yourself the difference will be like Wow. I've got a set with some maxxis ikon tires on them if you want to take a test ride at someplace like double lake or huntsville where you can see how they handle at speed and in nice flowy corners. Don's deal sounds pretty damn good if you want to buy some turnkey
I went with the Reynolds because they came on my Cannondale's and they have Lefty front hubs. That's the only reason. I can't really sell the reynolds because of the lefty front (very small market) and it's too much to purchase a lefty hub and relace the front wheel of these other wheels. Given a choice I'd go with the light-bicycle build over these Reynolds but I'm not really given a choice AND Hope doesn't make a lefty front hub so I wouldn't have a matching set unless I replaced the rear hub too. Financially it just doesn't make sense. I like carbon much better than aluminum. It's stiffer and it wasn't until I started ridding carbon mtb wheels that I noticed how much aluminum seems to flex. Someone like you, with GREAT handling skills, will likely notice (as Tootall did) how much more responsive they are because they don't flex. I like these carbon wheels over my custom laced Arches. They're about the same weight, but way more stiff. I run them tubeless too. Even at 22-23psi of pressure I don't have a problem. I can't say enough about carbon wheels.
I would be interested, but my focus is on the new Ripley and I will ride what comes on it knowing that a wheel upgrade will be the first thing to happen on that bike. I am also very curious about testing a set, but the new bike is QR 15 up front and 142 in the rear. Down payment on the bike happened last weekend and I sold the Salsa yesterday to a friend of a friend and am awaiting the check in the mail. I should be rolling on a nice new Ripley this weekend !
I'm just messing with you N8. Definitely looks like a fun bike, though probably is overkill for some of our stuff around here, it should be super fun when things get rough.
Well, to each there own. I wouldn't knock it till you try it though. The Tallboy has the same travel option and I have seen plenty of folks tearing it up in the CAT 1 class on those as well as Pivot 429's. I am looking for a good all around bike that I can take anywhere and also race here in TX. That's just my preference. Don't you have 2 29ers? Same could be said, why do you need 2 29ers?
I retract my snarky rebuttal. I rode it around for about 30 minutes a few weeks ago and to be honest it was the perfect blend of my Ibis Mojo and the Salsa El Mar. I can't wait to hit up the hill country races and see how much better I feel and how much more control I can achieve. For me racing the extra mileage at the CAT 1 pace would have been brutal on the HT as my riding style is much more suited to a XC FS bike. All the years of DJ, BMX, and MTBing have influenced my riding style in a way that I just enjoy the FS ride much better...
Hopefully you didn't see my second response before typing this. The Tallboy is 100mm, the Tallboy LT is 120 I think. Mostly I see 100mm 29ers, which I have and think is the sweet spot for our TX courses. I've certainly never found it limiting. But yes I do have 2 29ers. A geared 100mm FS, and a singlespeed 0mm rigid. I agree, the Ripley will be an awesome bike that you can take and shred anywhere. I think the same about my 100mm bike.
LIKE 2 SHIPS PASSING IN THE NIGHT... DIDN'T SEE YOUR SECOND RESPONSE. DIDN'T YOU HAVE THE FS BMC 29ER? OR DID YOU SELL IT?
Still have it. Still in love with it. 22.5lbs of awesome. Been riding the SS a lot this summer to mix things up, hopefully build some strength and save wear on the race bike in the off season.
