Got home from work today to find the garage door up, and my SantaCruz Tallboy missing from the garage ....... !@#$!@#$@! Nothing else taken - but timing couldn't we worse .... had bike all ready to go for Camp Eagle on the weekend!!
Damn, that sucks! Sorry to hear that Skippy. Do you have the serial number of the frame? Start checking the classifieds and the local pawn shops.
damn, man. people suck. sorry to see this. you're too tall for my spare bike, so hopefully you can come up with something before the weekend.
CRAP THAT SUCKS. my RIP is all yours! It is a good bike, not as light as your Tallboy but it will keep you racing
Skippy, that sucks! Like everyone hear I feel for ya. Hope between police, insurance, etc it gets sorted.
Yeah, thanks ..... Filed police report (you never know ... I once got a car stereo back that was stolen from my car), but don't expect to see it. Covered by house contents insurance, but deductible is pretty big, and seems I didn't check the fine print closely enough as I'm only covered for cash value (ie depreciated) for contents ..... Will see tomorrow how much the insurance experts who know best think that is .............
Don't forget to let them know it did have those Enve wheels you bought from PT and Quarq powermeter cranks you bought from Frank.
Was it a large or extra large? I have my large sitting in the garage collecting dust currently if you want to borrow it.
So I have had to deal with insurance before and I think many people think that whatever the insurance company offers is the final amount. You have the right to negotiate with them and demand more so don't be shy.
Thanks, but it was an XL, which was just big enough .... otherwise that'd be perfect. Below is a pic of my Tallboy when new ..... with any luck, who ever pinched it will be not to bright, and try selling it online - here's hoping, as it's not a common bike in Houston (apart from ptee that is)!! In the mean time, I'll look into resurrecting my old Stumpy for Camp Eagle (the poor thing has had a hard life - Camp Eagle might kill it ......), so if I can get it sorted by Friday at least ill have something to ride
yo skippy, you a NINER hater like dirtbag??!! haha offer stands for you to use the RIP. Let me know when you want to swing by and get it. I am home this evening
haha, no, super grateful for the offer .... just a little hesitant to borrow a bike for CE given how rocky it is .... plus I run my brakes in reverse to you guys, and that would confuse the crap out of me in a race, and almost certainly result in a crash ..... I'll let you know how my SJ is looking once i've had a chance to go over it tonight, and might give you a call if it doesn't look like it'll be rideable
It's not the perfect bike for CE (low bottom bracket and only 80mm fork travel) but my Orbea is at your disposal as well should you need it... it's a L but is a perfect fit for my 6'3 build.
You need 2-3of these. Not the best for night conditions but they are quite GOOD for daytime conditions when most robberies/burglaries now occur. I can neither confirm nor deny the presence of a half dozen of these around my house. If you want decent nightvision get one of these. Of course you can use them both, together. You don't have to do one or the other.
Yeah ..... I was mocking my Father for installing a video surveillance system for his house back down under, but now I'm probably going to do the same ...... Thanks for the links!!
and this: http://pegtech.com/products/gps-bicycle ... nformation If the bike goes inside and you lose GPs, then GSM takes over. But it must be charged - apparently it holds a long charge if you disable it when you are riding.
