ENVE XC 29 w/ DT 240s for QR 10 speed, but convertible (I can sell the XD driver too if you want 11 speed). Tubeless with Clement Crusade PDX CX tires, but if you don't want those, I can keep them for a pit wheel set (but man, they're holding air well - I hate to break 'em off). With or without the 140/160 rotors. $1600.00
Just an idea DBD they make mtb tubular tires and those DT swiss hubs can be configured to 142 and 15mm for your epic. Tubular mtb race day wheels that are 1300 grams would be insane set up on that new bike you got. Brian V. Who is the SS guy on cx and mtb is running tubulars on his mtb and that thing weighs less than some tricked out road bikes from a few years back.
You might want to contact john madden he bought some enve wheels and could not get them to work tubeless what was your secret?
Very cool dirtbag. I was curious since those are sweet so wasn't sure what the upgrade would be. I avoid tubular since I always hear they are awesome and so I have no interest in trying them, loving them and then trying to justify the hassle.
KIA, what I gather in speaking with john is that he did not buy tubeless capable ENVE's. The XC 29's are convertible. He bought their CX offering, which are not tubeless capable. He contacted ENVE to learn this. That suxxes.
Thanks alot dirtbag. As if reading the LakeLake marathon stories last week wasn't enuf, this post gives me a little perspective on how out of the lupe I really am. YOU KIDS STAY OUTTA MY YARD.
What are you talking about? You've been 7 years behind when you were in the lupe! By the way, these wheels are so super sweet on the MTB. I could keep them and sell the new carbon Rovals that came on the new bike. Maybe I should, but for now the ENVE's are the sale item.
If I remember right the Enve XC wheels had a pretty narrow internal width for MTB use. I'd stick with the Rovals they're a good 22mm internal.
Tootall, that is not a good way to help me sell these!! I can say I thought they were super on the MTB, tubeless.
For the record, I have both the Enve Classics and the new Enve M60's. They both work flawlessly on tubeless setups. The new M series are a PITA to get the tire over the rim because the rim is a tad bit taller (there's no beadhook on the M's.) If you have to put a tube in on the trail you better have some tire levers cause you aren't doing it with normal human hands. On the other hand, you can much more easily slide the tire over the rim without levers when using the original classic Enve's. The new M's are internally wider than the original classics. Both are very stiff and both will allow my 225lb self to run 23psi in their tubeless Rocket Ron's without burping or rolling the tire. For whatever that's worth. For clarification, I have only run my Enve 29er wheels with 29er mtb tires and always tubeless. I have never attempted to put a 700c tire (road or cx) on them.
I'll agree with what Don said about tubeless on Enves. I have the XC's and have never had an issue getting tires to seat and inflate. In fact, the Geax Aka typically snaps right on and doesn't need a compressor to inflate. The only time I lose air is when the sealant dries out. I carry tire levers in case I need to throw a tube in because even the XC's are tight.
Like, what are those? I suppose if you put a tire around the tubes, these will work pretty darned spiffy.
the tube or "innertube" goes inside of the tire. you can get them filled with slime stuff too so you won't get flat. http://www.nashbar.com/bikes/Product_10 ... 1___204730
