Coyotes. They've come in from TH park and are snatching cats and small dogs. Wish they were grabbing raccoons because we have too many. The dogs often wake up in the middle of the night and bark. I think it's the coyotes because people are hearing them howl and yip. I don't hear them from inside the house. We're between Memorial and 10 and they've been seen several times on our side of Memorial.
8 speed works. No shifting problems. If you get stronger you can even big ring up the chappell hill climbs and not use the last gear on the cog. Blame your legs not the bike. I did learn on a recent ride that you are probably faster in the middle ring spinning. Yep the cable housing rusted out.
Coons - we have a program for them. Most of them go across a major roadway like I-10 or Beltway 8. Opossums too.
